In 5 months I shall hopefully be graduating from a photography degree, yay! But like so many panic is setting in and I dreading the inevitable, what now? Gulp. My tutor reminded me of this video of Alan Watts last week. The first time I saw it I found it hugely inspiring and that seems to still resonate in me. Although I have a feeling that I have perhaps chosen a career path to self-destructive financial woes, which does fill me with dread, I ultimately hope to be happy and I am excited about my creative future. A geography teacher I had at school once asked me what I wanted to do when I left school. I replied saying that I’d like to go to Art College and study photography. With no sarcasm in her tone she replied to my answer with, “ohh, that’s an easy option isn’t it”… That conversation has stuck with me, partly because of her sheer ignorance and partly because I detested the woman. So take a moment to watch this inspiring video and remember if all else fails we could all become geography teachers, I hear that’s an easy job option

This stunning video featuring Marina Kanno and Giacomo Bevilaqua from Staatsballett Berlin perform with their movement captured in slow motion at 1000 frames per second. It’s made only more special by Radiohead’s Everything in Its Right Place played as the soundtrack. Ahhh if only I’d stuck at ballet!

Just back from the 4 day festival of Exit, held in the Petrovaradin Fortress of Novi Sad, Serbia…
Sorry Seth, I had to show the world you’re wonderful dancing!
“The EXIT festival came into being in the year 2000 as an act of rebellion against the regime of Slobodan Milosevic, that had for years been keeping Serbia out of touch with the outside world. That summer thousands of young people from Novi Sad gathered in the campus park by the Danube River where concerts, parties and art performances took place. There were also discussions and debates where the young were able to express their opposition to the imposed nationalism, xenophobia, censorship and repression. The event lasted for 100 days and its grand finale was the ‘Get out to Vote’ party, which was held one day before the elections that saw the downfall of Milosevic.”

I think from now on I’ll be a fair weather festival goer, to my delight there wasn’t a drop of mud in sight!!

I don’t know how I feel about this night surf video by Iker Elorrieta. It’s undoubtedly very beautiful with all the waves, spray etc but at the same time so completely over the top and fake looking. The overly starry nights sky annoyed me and then BOOM, the shot of the moon. It made me laugh in a cringe worthy manner!

This month brings the release of the Lamborghini Aventador. Below is their epic yet totally ridiculous promo film that shows the Aventador battling against the forces of nature, in a Hollywood 2012 kind of way. The three-minute video was shot in the Californian desert, Coyote Dry Lakebed and directed by Ole Peters.
“the Aventador was named for a Spanish fighting bull from the breeding stables of the sons of Don Celestino Cuadri Vides. Signed number 32 on his hide, Aventador gained fame in 1993 in the town of Zaragoza, Spain after a notably spirited, bloody and violent battle with a torero that earned it the “Trofeo de la Peña La Madroñera” for its courage.” Good old Wikipedia
See the similarities!!! See Cusack didn’t even have a Aventador and he beat the forces of nature. Personally I still prefer the advertising style used for the 2010 the Lamborghini Reventón Roadster.

Boarders Travis Rice, John Jackson, Scotty Lago and Mark Landvik, among others, travelled to Alaska, Aspen,Chile, Patagonia, Jackson Hole, British Columbia and more to create The Art of Flight. This film looks like more than your average boarding movie, it’s in a whole new league of its own and I can’t wait until it’s release in September! Goose pimples!
